The Dance Academy Showcase
We actively encourage our children to participate in Dance and Performing arts classes. Participation in these classes helps the children develop their physical, emotional and behavioral skills.
The Dance Academy Showcase is a great opportunity for the children to have the spotlight and be front of stage.
Over the years the children have developed wonderful childhood memories.
Run for All
The Leeds fun run is a great event catering for all ages and abilities.

This large and well organised event typically takes place in the centre of Leeds around June time each year.

Training for the event starts around Easter.

The children often take part with family and friends.

Our children take great pride in showing their running medal to their friends at school.

Swimathon
The Swimathon event is open to all the children in therapy and is a great opportunity to achieve a new personalised swimming goal. Over the years the children have swam anywhere between 25 metres and 1 kilometre.
This event takes place annually in our Sport Therapy swimming pool during the third week of December.

Sport Therapy
Psychomotor Therapy links Cognition and Movement.
During the first stage of this educational approach the child is taught how to use motor, behavioural and cognitive strategies in order to improve their abilities.
These strategies are taught using sport activities.
Having achieved a series of successes and a consequent increase in confidence, your child will be taught how to transfer these strategies to every day life tasks - in the classroom, at home, with peers, etc.

Our Services
Consultation
All our therapy starts with a free of charge consultation.
The consultation is a meeting between the parents and the therapist to check the suitability of the therapy.
During the consultation we will discuss your child's needs, understand the challenges being faced and describe how the therapy may be able to help. We will also show you our gym, studio and pool facilities.
If the therapy is considered suitable for your child the next step is to arrange for a psychomotor assessment at our clinic.

Therapeutic Excercise
Parental & School Consultation
This therapy consists of specific exercises aimed at improving muscle strength, joint flexibility and aerobic stamina.

This form of therapy is suitable for postural disorders (e.g. scoliosis, kyphosis, poor posture, etc.) and includes physical exercise together with techniques for developing postural awareness.

The therapy takes place in both the gym and the pool.
This highly recommended form of therapy includes physical exercise in the swimming pool, concentration and relaxation techniques.
Hydro therapy takes advantage of the therapeutic properties of the water.

A key aspect of this therapy is teaching your child to become a confident swimmer.
An holistic approach to your child's needs is required to ensure the transfer of skills across to everyday life and educational environments. Working with all those involved in your child's life (family, teachers, therapists, etc.) is key to maximising progress.

We work very closely with schools, health and educational services. Our services include;
-
Educational staff consultancy (SENCOs, Teachers, TAs)
-
Parental support & consultancy
-
EHCP/Annual school meeting input (report & attendance)

Psychomotor Assessment

-
Establish your child’s motor and psychomotor status

-
Assess the feasibility of creating learning strategies that will address your child’s difficulties, to be delivered via a Sport & Hydro Therapy programme

-
Facilitate the design of a working therapy programme to implement learning strategies that can be transferred across to everyday life and academic environments

-
Provide a baseline against which future assessments may be compared and progress assessed

-
Provide a detailed written report which can be used as part of a future diagnosis
A key Sport Therapy aim is to equip children with the ability to fully integrate into society. 'Participating in' and 'training for' events is a significant aspect of successful integration.

Completing events has many positive outcomes; boosting self-confidence, fostering a sense of pride and creating a sense of achievement. Above all, event success moves a child into a success circle, building a strong platform for progress and integration.

For the past 15 years our children have participated annually in the Sport Therapy Clinic Swimathon, Leeds Run for All and The Dance Academy Showcase, raising significant funds for local charities, including; Candlelighters, Physcap and The Lighthouse School.
